Salary: GBP50,000 - GBP55,000 Basic, GBP80k - GBP85k OTE plus full benefits package

THE COMPANY AND SITUATION:

This is a leading supplier of map-based (GIS) software solutions. No, GoogleMaps are no competition, don't worry! We're talking solutions around vehicle routing, scheduling and optimisation, supply chain network distribution planning, that kind of thing. They are now seeking a sales manager for this software as the current incumbent is moving up. The role is 50% sales, 50% management, leading by example (please note this is NOT a pure management job, just managing salespeople and not doing any sales yourself!).

This is a small company that has just been acquired by a large company, giving you the best of both worlds in terms of stability and working environment.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

The following experience and attributes are essential for this role:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in selling B2B
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in selling software
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in managing salespeople
  • A referenceable track record of hitting your numbers over several years, both for yourself and for teams you've managed
  • Not afraid of lead generation and knocking on doors! This is sales as well as management!

Please note the above criteria are essential - you require all of the above points to be eligible for this role.

THE ROLE:

Please note: This is NOT a pure management role, just managing salespeople whilst not doing any sales yourself! The role is 50% sales, 50% management, this is a player manager role, leading your team by example in that you're still bringing in business. Your target will be based on overall team performance (team of five).

You and your team would be selling their GIS software products around Map Data and Optimisation. Yes there is cold-calling: They need hunters not afraid to knock on doors, but there are also some incoming leads from marketing and trade shows. This is a highly consultative role, developing an understanding of clients' problems and how you will solve them. You will have excellent support from the considerable resources of the wider group, such as pre-sales, consultancy, software development and marketing.
