Responsibilities include;

  • Report directly to the Unit Manager and be responsible for (but not limited to) Production Supervisor(s), Picking room staff, Baler Operatives, Bale Trimmers, Banksman, Control Room Operator, Mobile Plant Operatives and Agency Staff.
  • To maintain accurate production metrics in electronic format and upload to BI web portal monthly as defined by the Unit Manager.
  • Drive continuous improvement activities across the site.
  • Work with the maintenance department to prioritise all maintenance activities on site. This includes enabling all PPM inspections to be carried out in timely manner.
  • Identify and organise the resources required to complete repairs on time and within budget.
  • Work with the administrative functions; ensuring waste being received is acceptable as per the Site Licence and report exceptions by the approved manner.
  • Manage and control all contractors in the absence of the maintenance supervisor and carrying out work in the MRF
  • Manage agency staff ensuring all Viridor staff are utilised fully before using agency labour.
  • Facilitate Daily Production Cell meetings ensuring actions are identified to drive continuous improvements.
  • To carry out annual and timely Performance Annual Reviews (PAR's) of all direct reports. To carry out Training Reviews for all MRF Operatives.
  • To ensure where training needs have been identified the relevant courses/training are arranged in a timely manner.
  • Apart from the duties summarised in your Role Profile, the company reserve the right to include other reasonable duties which are part of, and incidental to, this type of work.

Experience required;

  • Principles of people management and
    motivation.
  • Understanding of Continuous
    Improvement methodology. Lean RCM and
    Six Sigma.
  • NEBOSH or IOSHH qualification
  • Principles of financial management and
    working to agreed budgets.
  • Previous waste management background (very beneficial)
