Farm Manager

We are currently Farm Manager at our Homefield Farm in West Sussex RH14 9EB. This role will come with a company property located on the farm.

As a Farm Manager you will manage the running of the farm within company parameters and consistently operate to the highest standards of husbandry and management, in order to optimise the flock performance and provide a profitable and efficient operation. Maintain high standards in bird welfare, bio-security farm security and H&S.

Main Responsibilities of a Farm Manager

* Ensure that there is adequate feed and water available for the stock at all times, commensurate with breeding companies' recommendations and maintain the correct minimum ventilation at all times

* Manage bird health and welfare to a high standard at all times and take responsibility for welfare practices undertaken by others

* To check weigh stock on a weekly basis and adjust feeding programme accordingly

* To ensure paperwork is in place to comply with ACP standards and conduct audits together with the external ACP audit.

* Maintain and order farm stocks of feed, water, fuel, bedding, vaccines and medications, chemicals, PPE and general equipment.

* To monitor shed temperature and ventilation to ensure optimum bird health, welfare and performance

* To manage farm hygiene through daily hygiene upkeep and management of the hygiene process during crop turnaround.

* To test all alarms and fail safe systems and trial run generators on load once per week and record details on charts provided

* To keep the site, the area around the building, store sheds, farm office clean and tidy

* Manage farm maintenance programmes to include requesting resource requirements and planning maintenance programmes both on farm and conducted by the Maintenance Team

* Manage site security at all times by maintaining farm security systems and monitoring visitor attendance

* To take part in internal and external audits to include rectifying non-compliances and resolving issues

* To undertake routine day to day management of all internal and external audit standards

* Manage crop efficiencies and monitor farm performance in line with the farm budget

* Be a coach and role model for all staff when working on your farm

* Leadership and management of any farm personnel both permanent

* Ensure that your staff have the appropriate knowledge, skills and behaviours to complete their responsibilities

As a Farm Manager you will have experience of working within the poultry industry in a farm manager capacity within poultry breeders. You will have strong management experience and in depth knowledge of Animal Welfare. Strong numeracy and literacy skills alongside basic IT skills. Able to form good working relationships within a team and build external relationships. You will be flexible and adaptable to change, reliable and a forward thinking. Attention to detail is key within this role.
