A new opportunity has arisen to take on the leadership of a small team developing and supporting the University's information systems (student systems, finance, HR, payroll, timetabling, CRM, Web CMS, portals, etc.).
You will be an experienced developer in SQL Server and C#, or have equivalent experience in alternative database and programming tools and a willingness to re-train in Microsoft technologies. Other relevant experience would include SharePoint, BI, Web services and XML. The university has a blend of on premise and externally-hosted systems so your team will be using a range of integration methods and APIs to deliver solutions.
You will have some experience in leading a development team with the ability to establish and promote technical standards for design, coding, testing and documentation. The role requires a confident communicator with technical colleagues, system suppliers and system administrators in other departments. You will also be familiar with basic project management methods e. estimating, project plans, issue & risk management.
You will have experience of supporting information systems in a corporate environment, within published SLA targets. You will be familiar with ITIL principles e. incident, problem and change management. Experience in Higher Education is an advantage but not essential. More important will be strong customer-facing skills, and a flair for technical leadership.
This is an exciting time to join the University, with a number of new systems and developments in the pipeline all using the latest technology. If you are interested in being part of their future, please apply.
The Service:

They provide strategic leadership for IT and Learning Resources and work collaboratively with academic departments, professional services and students to advise on opportunities and good practice and to ensure they provide the best possible support for their needs. For all their services they innovate and develop as well as provide support in person, virtually and through online and physical resources.
Starting Salary: Up to £40,000 plus 35 days annual leave and generous pension
Closing date: Monday 27 August 2018 (midnight)
Expected interview date: Tuesday 11 September 2018, Lancaster campus
