Head of Engineering

Our client is a manufacturing business that forms an integral part of a UK listed plc. Its products are at the forefront of technological innovation within the markets it serves which are OEMs whose customers are supplying users in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors. This role reports to the Managing Director and has responsibility for the Engineering value stream encompassing NPD, Applications Engineering, Drawing Office, Testing & Approvals, Design Improvements and Manufacturing Support. * Create an annual strategy plan covering the Engineering value stream including budgets and resource. * Lead the NPD delivery plan in line with agreed cost budgets and project timelines and 'gateway' process. * Manage engineering activities in a manner that ensures customer requirements are realised promptly and in a controlled manner. * Develop and maintain a capable Engineering resource with the skills required to support our immediate and forthcoming plans. * Develop and manage staff in a manner that creates a collaborative workplace culture, ensuring an agreed plan of training, support and mentoring exists for junior staff members. * Graduate calibre, minimum 5 years' experience leading the engineering activities of a manufacturing business. Ideally you will specialise in electronics, supported by knowledge of electro-mechanical systems and materials, rotating devices and approvals such as LVD & EMC. * Demonstrable track record of successfully deploying 'gateway' project management disciplines, including process improvement, cost reduction and change management. * Proven track record of driving change and improvement through the Engineering value stream. * First class communication skills, highly numerate and with the confidence to challenge the status quo
