We are looking for smart and friendly applicants to live and work throughout Falkirk and the surrounding areas as Meter Readers/Data Collectors.

As a Meter Reader/Data Collector you will be responsible for visiting both commercial and residential customers to obtain accurate readings from gas and electricity meters, carry out meter inspections, collect other types of data, and provide ongoing customer service. You will be representing many of the leading utility suppliers so a professional image will be required at all times.

The position will involve daily contact with customers so great communication and customer service skills are essential along with the ability to work in a target driven environment. Full training is provided as well as uniform. You will need to be fit and active as the role can be physically demanding and you must expect to be walking in the region of 8 miles per day.

We are looking for people with the following key skills:
-the ability to prioritise workload to ensure that deadlines are met effectively ensuring maximum efficiency and productivity
-good planning skills for effective coverage of the areas you will be working
-a flexible approach to tasks and working hours
-be smart in appearance with a professional outlook
-computer literacy as you will be using a hand-held computer
-experience in delivering great customer service

You will be engaged on a 37-hour week paid at the rate of GBP8.06 per hour with the opportunity to participate in a bonus scheme based on achieveable outcomes from your work. This bonus scheme has unlimited potential for high performing staff. The required shifts are 4 days across Monday to Friday 12pm-8pm and Saturday 8.30am-4.30pm.

Successful candidates will be field-based, self-motivated and highly organised, have good knowledge of the local area, be competent in numeracy and literacy and have the ability to work to timescales and under pressure. You must be able to pass the vetting standards which include proof of right to work in the UK, a UK National Insurance number, a 5-year history check, credit check and criminal record check. You must also have access to a working telephone landline in order to receive your work via the handheld computer.

We need you to hold a full European driving licence with a maximum of 6 penalty points and be able to provide your own transport for business usage reclaimable at 35 pence per mile. You will also need to provide business insurance cover for your vehicle.
