Advertising Sales Manager

Do you have experience in developing new and existing business opportunities and strong client relationships?

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our award-winning Magazine Division, publishers of: The Scottish Farmer, Forestry Journal, essentialARB.

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Advertising Sales Manager with strong organisational skills who can maximise revenue opportunities across our forestry publications.

Managing existing territories whilst generating new business across both display and classified platforms, the successful candidate will be responsible for growing revenue both from existing advertiser accounts and from developing new business. This will be achieved through effective outgoing sales calls, as well as occasional face to face sales meetings where appropriate and from attendance at industry events.

This role would suit someone who is able to work on their own initiative, with excellent oral and presentation skills and enjoys helping businesses to achieve their marketing goals and objectives.


Ideally the successful candidate will:

  • Be able to demonstrate an interest and understanding of the forestry and arboricultural sectors and be able to communicate effectively across key market within these sectors.
  • Have a successful proven track record in a high-volume sales driven media environment with ideally a minimum of 2 years media sales experience in Newspapers or Magazines. Or a comprehensive working knowledge of the arb and forestry sector and the drive and ability to grow into the role.
  • Have excellent communication and presentation skills; well-developed influencing and persuading skills, with previous experience of working across a diverse range of products with the ability to sell to a wide range of clients up to director level.
  • Be a confident, self-motivated and effective communicator.
  • Be a team player, able to operate within a small but highly effective group of sales and business growth advisers who can respond promptly within a fast-paced environment.
  • Thrive in a sale focussed, target driven environment.
  • Be able to demonstrate initiative, energy, drive and tenacity with an enthusiastic approach in today's competitive marketplace.

The job would ideally be based in either our Glasgow or Dumfries offices, but equally we would consider a home working relationship for the right person.
