This amazing children's hospice in Oxford relies on successful fundraising events to fund its work and we need an Events Fundraiser who is passionate about achieving the highest standards of customer care to support the Events Fundraising Manager in all events activities; including the planning, development and management of calendar of events. This also involves the charity's own events, national activity events the charity promotes and any other events as necessary.

Ideally we are looking for:

An engaging and energetic individual who has a natural ability to relate to people from all walks of life as well as the drive and enthusiasm to make things happen.

The successful candidate will thrive when working as part of a team and be skilled in cross functional working across organisational teams.

You'll be responsible for

  • Supporting the planning, development and implementation of the events fundraising strategy to ensure that Helen & Douglas House develops a sustainable calendar of annual events. You will identify and develop new fundraising ideas in order to set Helen & Douglas House apart from other charities.
  • Working in partnership with third party organisers, suppliers and charity umbrella organisations and be responsible for the supporter journey and relationship when they sign up to third party events.
  • Supporting the fundraising team and the charity at events as and when required and be responsible for the 'on the day' implementation of some events and deal effectively with any problems that arise. As many activities are held on evenings, early in the morning and weekends the post will involve some unsocial hours, for which payment (if appropriate) and Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) will be given with the prior agreement.
  • Evaluating each event with a de-brief or questionnaire for participants, staff and volunteers, making sure that all relevant information is captured and recommendations made, in order to enable Helen & Douglas House constantly improves its approach.
  • Working effectively with other functions who help to make Helen & Douglas House events successful such as Marketing, Volunteers and Supporters to ensure expertise, support and contributions are maximised.
