Salary: £32,760 per annum
Full Time: 40 hours per week
Based at Albert Road depot, Bristol
Bristol Waste Company is responsible for refuse and recycling collection, street cleansing and waste disposal services for the city of Bristol. We manage the city’s two Household Waste Recycling Centres, plus a growing Commercial waste business. We are an enthusiastic, forward-thinking company with an ambitious vision for Bristol, and are seeking to recruit 2x Senior Fitters to join our team based at Albert Road depot.
Duties will include repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions and ensuring vehicles comply with statutory legislation. The post holder will troubleshoot breakdowns and conduct quality control inspections. Lastly, the Senior Fitter will direct the Workshop team to ensure service provisions are continuously met.

It is essential to have working knowledge of the waste industry and have practical experience in maintaining refuse and recycling vehicles. Qualifications in vehicle maintenance are required as well as demonstrable ability to lead, motivate and direct a team of mechanics, accompanied by effective communication skills. The post holder must hold a full driving licence valid for use in the UK. Having a full HGV licence, IOSH qualification, Dennis refuse trucks manufacturer training, Terberg lift manufacturer training, Scarab manufacturer training, Johnston manufacturer training and I.R.T.E.C Master craftsman accreditation would be advantageous, but not essential.
