The position - As assistant to the farm manager this role will include primary responsibility for the day to day management of the herd on the growing / finishing unit which includes all aspects of diet, grazing management, welfare and animal selection. In addition, oversight of the separately staffed rearing unit to ensure optimal welfare, growth and transition of the calves once weaned.

The Farm - Just under 2,000 acre of mixed arable and beef farm in Mid Devon, 20 miles west of Exeter with good access to the A30.

The main emphasis on finishing 1000+ head. Calves are bought in at 2 weeks of age to our own rearing farm and then, once weaned, are moved to the growing / finishing farm (AFU with grazing).

The system is forage based utilizing paddock grazing at grass and housed in modern, purpose built facilities with a TMR wagon ration when housed.

Considerable investment has been made in infrastructure and machinery over the last 6 years and further investment is planned.

There is a strong emphasis to develop progressive techniques including both conservation agriculture on the farm as well as investment in robotics and other technologies.

There are approximately 300 acres of arable ground, 300 acres of woodland and an in hand, friendly shoot
