An exciting opportunity has arisen to join part of our fast-paced Communications Team on a 12 month, fixed-term basis. The role has responsibility for managing day to day running of a busy press office as well as supporting with internal and external communications and delivery of issues-led campaigns among other responsibilities.
We're looking for an experienced, creative and highly motivated professional who can hit the ground running.
The Role
- Planning and implementing our communications delivery plan
- Manage proactive and reactive press office including manning in-hours media hotline, writingand distribute press releases, settingup media briefings/interviews for colleagues and managingmedia lists.
- Identify PR opportunities and find innovative and engaging ways to tell our story
- Drafting and distribution of our press releases and other digital communications including film
- Control of our social media channels and day to day management of the external website and myNGN (intranet) writing internal news stories and blogs.
- Use PR tools to track media landscape, our competitor activity, and reputation and co-ordinate reporting for senior stakeholders
- Helping to organise and attend any press events/interviews, including preparing briefing documents for colleagues
- Managing some admin tasks including monitoring the @Communications mailbox and managing the communications planner, keeping it up to date and co-ordinating activity
- Deliver effective crisis communications during incident situations
- Supportexternal and internalevents with relevant communications materials and activities
The Candidate
- Degree educated (journalism,communications, business ormarketing related degree is preferable)
- Highly organised in order to successfully manage and prioritise a varied and demanding workload
- Excellent communication, written and grammar skills
- Strong press and influencer contacts
- Good knowledge of the media landscape
- Social media savvy
- Self-motivated, results driven approach
- Extremely organised with exceptional attention to detail
- Resilience to overcome obstacles to deliver what is required
Essential criteria
- Minimum two years' experience in a PR/communications related role- in house or agency
- Experience of dealing with sensitive issuesand reputation management
- Experience using social media and online advertising campaigns
- Full driving licence
The Package
- Up to £27,000 per annum
- 40 hours per week
- Up to 5% bonus per annum depending on performance
- 25 days holiday per year, plus 8 days bank holiday, plus 2 half days (Christmas Eve and New Years Eve)
