Our clients vision is that everyone has a place to call home and can fulfil their hopes and ambitions.

To support this ambition they are expanding their services to homeless people across the South East/West of England.  This new role, was created as a result of recently announced additional government funding, to boost the immediate support available to people living on the streets.

As a Reconnection Worker you will make contact with rough sleepers in Reading and assess their needs thoroughly, so that they can be supported and/or reconnected away from rough sleeping and a harmful street lifestyle.

Working alongside members of the Reading Street Outreach Team, partner agencies in the UK and the rest of the world, you will take a lead in developing a package of support and interventions to aid people with reconnection or assimilation off the streets.

Ideally, you will have experience of working with vulnerable people or an understanding of the needs of street homeless people. However, what’s more important is your systematic; yet at the same time flexible approach and ability to work collaboratively with others. Strong communication, influencing and reasoning skills are also key, as is a flair for solving problems and the ability to build effective working relationships.

Flexibility is required, as you’ll be working a shift rota that involves a mixture of early mornings, nights, days and weekends.

In return, they offer a range of benefits including a pension scheme, staff discounts scheme and initiatives to help you maintain a healthy work/life balance. They are also committed to providing their staff with a wide range of learning and development opportunities; in support of their personal and professional development.
