Safety Engineer - Nuclear Industry
Our parent company Risktec Solutions is an established, independent and specialist risk management consulting and training company, and is part of the T??V Rheinland Group. We assist clients in major hazard industries including nuclear, oil and gas, renewables and transportation as well as commercial and public sectors to manage health, safety, security, environmental and business risk.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
Providing technical safety support and advice to clients and other team members
Carrying out safety assessment activities such as:
• Hazard identification
• HAZOP
• FMEA
• Design Basis Assessment
• PSA
• Development of SFRs
• Design substantiation
• ALARP assessment
• Safety case writing.
Producing formal technical reports, safety cases and other project deliverables on time and to budget.
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant standards, methods, data and use of appropriate software.
Managing and developing existing, established client relationships.
Developing new business.
Essential requirements:
Minimum of degree in science, engineering or related discipline (or equivalent).
Strong analytical and numeracy skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Practical and common sense approach.
High level of computer literacy.
Good interpersonal skills
Self-motivated
Desirable attributes and experience (training can be given):
Technical safety and/or risk assessment experience.
Experience in the production of nuclear safety cases.
At least 3 years relevant industry experience.
Working knowledge of practical risk management tools and techniques.
Practical knowledge and experience of engineering systems [design or operation, ideally covering mechanical, electrical, or control and instrumentation disciplines].
Risk management consulting experience.
Project management skills and experience.
Experience in production of non-Nuclear HSE safety cases.
Excellent written skills.
