Our client is recruiting on behalf of a long-established manufacturing business that works closely with its clients on the design of its class-leading products. As a result of increased demand and following a reorganisation they now require a talented individual to head up their newly created Product Design and Development function.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Director, your main responsibility will be to ensure the efficient direction, management and leadership of all design aspects of the business - including engineering, technology, and product development. The remit is wide-ranging - managing the processes as well as leading the team of 8 designers / CAD / drawing office / technical personnel.

As the Head of Product Design and Development, your aim will be to create a culture of technical excellence, customer first and simplicity - one which proactively supports customers and potential customers, along with the sales and manufacturing operations.

Naturally, you will have a successful track record in leading various design and technical teams in a manufacturing environment. Probably with an engineering background, you will have a collaborative and team centric approach, with strong communication and customer service skills. Practical, down to earth and also highly organised, your ability to question and challenge will be valued as much as your technical expertise.
