Job Purpose

Our client is changing its approach to reward to support the aspirations of the council for the future. This role will support the Employment Reward function by providing expertise as a subject matter expert in pay, rewards, pensions and role profiling. The role will guide the People Business Partners and People Consultants in best practice in order to maintain standards.

This role requires a detailed knowledge of job evaluation, whilst undertaking benchmarking projects to support current thinking on pay and grading policies, underpinned by evidence from a broad range of organisations to ensure alignment to our clients Reward Strategy and objectives.

This role will work collaboratively, communicating with people across the ODP function proving support to develop others knowledge on how pay and rewards work.

Service/Functional Accountabilities

Support all pay analysis and benchmarking projects using insight and intelligence to recommend changes to current policies and practice to support our client in achieving its objectives.

Support the review of current pay trends using relevant sources to highlight other reward practices across both the private and public sector to ensure current practices meet our clients objectives.

Work collaboratively with other specialists to develop a broad expertise and professional networks.

Share and build knowledge across the ODP community, by providing training for relevant ODP employees on Reward policies and job evaluation.

Collaboratively work with People Business Partners and specialists within ODP to suggest different options in overcoming barriers to the current pay and grading policies.

Support the work of pension, pay and grading and job evaluation matters as necessary.

Communicate effectively across the organisation, managing stakeholders effectively in understanding changes in the reward strategy (including pensions).

Build effective relationships with key customers, providing support and guidance to develop understanding of reward processes.

Maintain a good level of business knowledge, and knowledge of wider ODP strategies, policies and procedures.

Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Educated to degree standard level or equivalent by experience.

Evidence of continuing professional development and expert knowledge in relevant professional area, such as CIPD qualified or other post graduate qualification in Human Resources.

Good understanding of pay and reward practices and procedure in a modern HR environment together with experience in complex, unionised environments.

Subject matter expert of Hay Job Evaluation.

Evidence of ability to articulate job evaluation methodology and pay and grading strategy.

Good numerical, analytical and Excel skills.

Relationship management, with proven ability to develop strong, mutually beneficial relations with external and internal networks and stakeholders.

Proven practical experience and working knowledge of project management principles within an HR context
