Live Blogger

Location: Canary Wharf
Hours: 75-hour fortnight, including one weekend shift per week

Football is seeking to recruit a Live Blogger to join its talented and passionate editorial team.

As one of the fastest growing sports sites in the country, Football reaches millions of fans of the capital's clubs every week. This role will be pivotal in growing and engaging with our audience, focusing on clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham and others across London.

As well as breaking news as it happens, the successful candidate will be expected to talk to fans and cover live events every day.

The ideal candidate will have a flair for showing personality through their writing, plus the ability to work in a fast-paced environment where speed and accuracy are key.

Previous experience of live blogging is preferred but not essential, though candidates will be expected to show that they can write about football in an engaging way.


Key Responsibilities
  • Cover daily live blogs for both clubs and work with Audience and Social Editors to ensure key live opportunities are covered
  • Produce trending breakout content on top of blog coverage as and when required
  • Cover stories as they happen across multiple platforms
  • Cover match blogs and ensure best practice is clear for when others are required to
  • Use audience analytics to develop short, medium and long-term bespoke strategies to improve breaking news and live coverage
  • Plan the ideal live approaches for major events and appointment to view stories
  • Consider how live coverage can be used in non-traditional ways to improve and expand our current content offering
  • Support rest of the team with editorial responsibilities
  • Cover major stories, breaking sport news and be part of fan conversations in a fast-paced digital environment
  • Maximise opportunities for audience engagement and interaction
  • Identify new opportunities for growth and development, particularly around digital sports content
  • Use social media to engage with and build our audiences
  • Assist with long-term planning and produce content ahead of major events
  • Use analytics and data intelligence to guide your own content production
  • Ensure all work at all times conforms to Reach PLC policies and procedures
