Trainee Debt & Benefit Adviser
Bedford (Office Based)
Circa £21,000 (depending on skills) plus £2,000 per annum Car Allowance and additional benefits 
Permanent, Full Time - 37 hours per week 

Our client is a dynamic and ambitious 18,000 unit Housing Association based in Bedford and operating throughout the Oxford to Cambridge growth corridor. The organisation employs 400 people, has an annual turnover in excess of £120m and a development programme that will see it build around 3,000 new homes over the next five years making it one of the top 25 of developing associations.

They are currently seeking a Trainee Debt & Benefit Adviser. The role is office based in Bedford. You will work within the Financial Inclusion Team operating a Money Advice triage service in relation to the referrals the team receive. You will be expected to undertake a comprehensive course of training to qualify as an accredited Money Adviser. You will also undertake training to support you in offering advice about Welfare Benefits. You will also be expected to complete an NVQ Level 4 in Advice and Guidance.

The successful candidate will undertake basic casework and will be expected to implement strategies to maximise the take up of benefits and or debt advice by the associations residents. You will provide support to the Debt and Benefit Advisers and the Home Agents. You’ll also work to reduce debt owed in rent and service charges and to assist our residents in sustaining their tenancies.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must as is the ability to plan and prioritise your own workload and work with minimal supervision. Experience of lone working would be advantageous and you must have a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
