A superb career opportunity to become a Software Test Engineer working for an exciting new microfluidic 'lab-on-chip' company based in Oxfordshire. This high technology spinout company is set to revolutionise the life science, healthcare and biotech sectors. The position, which could also be described as a Software QA Engineer, Systems Test Engineer or Laboratory Technician, is to support the development team for the lab-on-a-chip devices. You will perform full system testing of the high-tech instrument, carrying out verification and validation of the performance of the software against requirements for real-world applications. In addition to hands-on testing of the devices you will be expected to be able to write and follow test plans to ensure that the Software is performing to specification. This person could be either a Lab Technician who has developed some software skills and would like to move their career towards Software or a Software graduate/software test engineer who has some experience of working in Lab environment.
Required Experience
* Bachelors' degree (BSc, BEng, MEng etc) in a science or engineering subject
* Practical experience of software development and understanding of software development processes and methodologies (including SDLC)
* Familiarity with standard scientific laboratory equipment
* Good understanding of quality procedures and processes
* Highly organized with outstanding attention to detail, quickly to learn and apply new skills
* Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and communication skills, both written and oral
* Self-motivated and able to exhibit a high degree of flexibility
Desirable:
* An understanding of Agile methodologies for software development
* An understanding of automated testing
* Experience working in a small company, ideally in the life science, bio-tech or medical device sector
* Familiarity with Quality Management Systems, preferably ISO13485 and/or EN62304
Location: Oxford (commutable from Reading, High Wycombe, Aylesbury, Swindon, Banbury)
Salary: GBP20k - GBP35k + Bens
