Working on behalf of a Local Authority, Aatom Recruitment has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Homelessness Advisor on a 3 months contract with a possibility of an extension.

Purpose of the role -

Homelessness Advisor role is responsible for carrying out the statutory duties under the Homeless Reduction Act 2017 including interviewing, assessing, Personal Housing Plans and decisions.

We do require someone who have a good knowledge of housing advice and homelessness legislation.

Duties/Responsibilities -

* Complete assessments within the legislative framework, providing written advice to all customers who are homeless or threatened with homelessness and develop a personal housing plan unique to each customer.
* Update all aspects of computerised housing systems including casework
* Negotiate positive outcomes with providers of accommodation or agents to ensure customers are assisted with their accommodation needs to negotiate positive outcomes with providers of accommodation or agents to ensure customers are assisted with their accommodation needs.
* Support the delivery of change within the service to ensure best practice and consistency of approach is adhered to within resources available.
* Work in partnership with other statutory and non-statutory agencies, attending meetings where required and court work.
* Assist customers with information and support regarding Welfare Benefits, housing rights, legal options, resettlement issues and housing options.
* Take appropriate action to deal with all enquiries and complaints
* Consider financial implications and budgets when making decisions that have a monetary value attached to them.
* Comply with the requirements for Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Adults.
* Work with the Homelessness Managers and senior homelessness officers in preparing reports.
* Participate in team meetings, one to ones and job chats
* Represent client Homes and the Housing Options service at multi-agency meetings covering issues relating to the service area.
* Comply with all Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications/Experience -

* Good Knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
* 2- 5 GCSE's, Grades A-C Including English & Maths or equivalent
* A practical and flexible approach to work
* Knowledge of Part 7 Of The 1996 Housing Act and The Homelessness Act 2002
* A good understanding of confidentiality
* Working Knowledge of Homeless Issues
