Hours: 35 hours per week, Mon-Fri, 8.30am – 4pm
Type: Permanent, term time only (39 weeks per year)
Holiday Entitlement:  School holidays (Stockport LEA)

Role Summary

They are recruiting for talented Healthcare Assistants to join their specialist SEN College.  Reporting to the College Nurse the roles will work as part of a team providing prescribed care and support to young adults (18-25 years old) with complex health needs.  These roles will be split between the classroom as the healthcare specialist worker and working alongside the Nurses in the medical office.  Some students may present challenging behaviour so candidates should be comfortable working in this type of environment.

Requirements

• Previous experience of working with children and young people with learning disabilities and complex communication needs who can also have complex health and medical needs
• Qualification in a healthcare or nursing discipline preferred but not essential
• Level three diploma in health care assistant or willingness to gain
• A – C grade in GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths
• Previous experience working with children or young adults with learning disabilities and complex communication needs, who can also have complex health and medical needs
• Excellent interpersonal skills able to build positive relationships with students, families, managers and staff
• Excellent written and IT skills 
• Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults.
• Ability to work upon own initiative within agreed parameters of the role
• Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Ability to handle sensitive situations and issues professionally
• Good problem solving skills
• Demonstrate consistency and commitment to supporting children and young person with complex needs
• Good team working
• A good understanding of confidentiality in relation to health and medical issues
