Health, Safety and Environmental Officer

Job Elements: -
·Implementation, maintenance and improvement of the Health and Safety Management System in accordance with OHSAS 18001
·The maintenance and improvement of the Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO: 14001.
·Monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure: -
oThe existence and awareness of a suitable and relevant health and safety policy.
oA safe workplace without risk to health.
oSafe plant and machinery, and safe movement, storage and use of articles and substances.
oAdequate provision of first-aid and welfare facilities and support.
oProvision of suitable and current information as well as supervision concerning health and safety policies and practices.
oProper and timely assessment of risks to health and safety, and implementation of measures and arrangements identified as necessary from the assessments.
oProvision of emergency procedures, first-aid facilities, safety signs, and relevant protective clothing and equipment.
oIncident reporting to the relevant authorities.
oThe workplace satisfies health, safety and welfare requirements for ventilation, temperature, lighting, sanitary, washing and rest facilities.
oPrevention and precautions against, or adequate control of, exposure to hazardous substances and danger from flammable, explosive, electrical, noise, radiation and manual handling risks.
·Investigation of accidents and incidents, and the implementation of any corrective and preventative actions advised.
·Liaise as necessary with other organizations and relevant authorities, and assistance and cooperation concerning audits and remedial actions.
·Carrying out Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Audits
·Carry out training of employees regarding EHS matters.
·Managing the Plant Waste Disposal in line with regulations.
The ideal candidate will have: -
·A good working knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations
·Previous experience in a Health and Safety role in a manufacturing environment.
·Minimum NEBOSH certificate or equivalent
·Minimum AIEMA associate or equivalent
·Strong people skills, ability to engage at all organisational levels.
·Highly organised with strong administration skills
·Excellent computer skills, minimum MS Office
·The ability to work on own initiative
·Driven, tenacious and resilient.
·Driving licence, willing to undertake infrequent business travel
