Neighbourhood Services Senior Operative

£19,446 to £22,401 per annum (Grade 4 - Subject to Job Evaluation)

Neighbourhood Services are looking to recruit a Senior Operative.  The post holder will provide support to the Neighbourhood Services Senior Supervisor/ Supervisor in supervising a team of Neighbourhood Services Operatives within a specified area. They will assist to deliver high quality area based cleansing and grounds maintenance services to the standard set by the Neighbourhood Services Manager.

The main tasks of the post include:

"    To prepare and issue daily work to area based staff in respect of cleansing, grounds maintenance and caretaker services.
"    To change work patterns when required to ensure that key services set by the Neighbourhood Service Senior Supervisor are met (e.g. unexpected absences etc.).
"    To provide a point of contact for area based staff when the Neighbourhood Service Senior Supervisor/ Supervisor are not on shift.
"    To support the Neighborhood Services Senior Supervisor/ Supervisor in ensuring that services are delivered to the required standard set by the Neighbourhood Services Team Leader.
"    To ensure that documentation relating to health, safety and training are available to staff.
"    To ensure that accurate records are maintained particularly those which require a high standard of numeracy and literacy (e.g. time sheets etc.). 
"    To undertake any other tasks or duties required by the Neighbourhood Service Senior Supervisor/ Supervisor.
"    To be responsible for maintaining health and safety for themselves, other employees and members of the public including adherence of safe working practices and procedures.
"    To represent Neighbourhood Services in a manner conductive with the standards expected including carrying of identity cards, wearing provided PPE and being respectful and polite to others at all times.

It is desirable that the post holder has a background in providing cleansing and grounds maintenance services, work planning, managing shift patterns (including holidays/sickness).

The post holder must demonstrate a good knowledge of health and safety and have excellent communication/ organisational skills. A current driving licence is essential.
