The purpose of this role is to ensure that The College's provision of work-based qualifications in this area are administered and delivered according to the standards laid down by the awarding bodies and the College. You will also be ensuring that candidates achieve within framework timeframes, by implementing all the necessary actions during the term of the qualification. We are looking for someone who is organised with a passion for building excellent working relationships and who has an adaptable attitude to working with students of all ages.

About Us
Bournemouth & Poole College are the largest provider of further education and apprentices within the area, we have around 11,000 students that are from across the UK and the world. We have approximately 1000 learners within Engineering; this is a mix of both full time and apprentice learners. The Area employs 45 staff who are deployed across our curriculum which covers:

The Role
Bournemouth and Poole College are looking for a Work-based Assessor for Higher Engineering Technology to ensure that candidates who wish to enrol on work-based qualifications have all the guidance and resources made available to them to successfully achieve their goal. You will be organising and carrying out on-site visits with candidates to perform assessments, which will involve using recognised assessment methods such as recording assessment decisions and giving feedback to candidates, and if necessary arranging for support activities to take place. As part of this role you will develop realistic plans for learning and assessment with the candidate, updating these when necessary. You will review the candidate's level of competence and identify what they need to do in order to become fully competent, supporting those with different needs during assessments. This also means you will be expected to ensure that there is open access to the assessment process, and that there is equality of opportunity to demonstrate competence.
Additionally, you will contribute, as a team member, to the design and development of courses and qualifications within the curriculum area, participating in any training appropriate for the role which may require you to attend internal and external courses.
Key responsibilities, skills and attitudes
- Minimum of 5 years recent industrial experience relevant to the subject area
- Ability to analyse and solve problems
- Strong Interpersonal / presentation and negotiation skills
- Planning and delivering training in this or an associated area (desirable)
- Good communication skills
- Level 3 qualification in Engineering Technology
- Initiative to deal with variant teaching and learning situations
- Possess a clean driving licence and have the use of own vehicle to carry out visits.
- Competent IT skills
- Team Player
- A level 3 qualification in Engineering Technology
- 3-5 years in an Engineering management position (Project Management, Production Management) or a Degree level qualification in an Engineering related subject
- Excellent Interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills
- Strong interest in developing resources
