MAINTENANCE ENGINEER
SUTTON BRIDGE, SPALDING
£Competitive
Average 45hrs per week mainly Mon-Fri (inc. some weekends)
We have a great opportunity for a Maintenance Fitter, with mechanical and electrical experience, to join the small friendly team at Port Sutton Bridge. You may already be working as a Workshop Engineer/Fitter and looking for an opportunity to join a well-established company and further your career. As a Maintenance Fitter you will be required to carry out all planned maintenance and repairs to port plant and equipment such as mobile cranes, fork lift trucks, HGV’s and trailers. A current full driving licence is required and ideally as the Workshop Engineer you will have previous experience working with port specific plant and machinery, although this is not essential.
Key responsibilities – Maintenance Engineer:
- To repair, maintain and service all mobile plant and associated port equipment.
- To assist in the smooth running of the workshops.
- Maintaining a clean and tidy workshop area.
- To complete relevant maintenance and general administrative paperwork.
- To operate plant and equipment at PSB once trained and/or authorised.
- Correct completion of job sheets.
- Utilisation of Company IT systems for parts identification, workshop manuals and job card creation.
- Collection of parts or repaired items from suppliers as requested by management.
- Assist in conducting training and development of apprentices or inexperienced fitters.
- Ensure that they work in a manner that confirms to H&S legislation, highlighting any unsafe practices to the Workshop Manager.
- Ensure all tools utilised in the workshop are safe and serviceable, highlighting any problems to the Workshop Manager.
- To assist with the loading, discharge and storage of goods and products to and from ships, boats, and other marine craft as required.
- To drive and operate machinery, plant and equipment once trained and/or authorised. This may include cranes, dock shunters, tipper trailers, forklift trucks, elevators.
- To assist in the mooring, unmooring and shifting of vessels, including handling of vessel mooring lines as required once trained and/or authorised.
Personal specification – Workshop Engineer
- Relevant engineering qualification.
- Good level of secondary education.
- Clean driving licence, HGV licence and FLT qualified.
- Good IT Skills.
- Flexible approach to working times (some weekend working, compensated by days off in the week)
