Simmons & Simmons is currently recruiting for an Assistant to join the HR Operations team and support the Learning and Development function. This role will be based in the Bristol office and rotate between various areas of the HR team supporting in all day to day tasks and activities. The ideal candidate will enjoy all things administration, be able to prioritise conflicting tasks and have a can do attitude. Office experience would also be advantageous and this is a great opportunity for anyone looking to move into the area of HR or develop already established knowledge of the area.

Main duties and responsibilities:

Learning and Development responsibilities:
- Responsible for the administration of global development programmes.
- Assist with the co-ordination of the global development programmes by liaising with external suppliers and venues to discuss events, co-ordinate dates, negotiate discounts and manage learning materials and attendance.
- Liaise with delegates, sending clear communication globally and dealing with queries.
- Respond to queries regarding learning events, attendance of delegates etc.
- Deal with basic learning requests from client groups e.g. researching appropriate courses, providers etc. including responding to the L&D Outlook account.
- Process invoices and maintain an up to date spreadsheet of L&D costs, cross-checking against a monthly budget summary.
- Assist in ensuring that all E&W qualified solicitors are compliant against the SRAs Continuing Competence approach and that they make their annual declaration.
- Provide general administrative support required by the L&D team.

Operation Team responsibilities:
- Work as part of the team providing day to day operational support to the wider UK and International HR teams as required.
- Use and administration of all HR systems including: leavers/joiners/updates/reporting on Firms HRIS (AX), absence management system, online performance management system (OPMS), referencing system (Vero) and recruitment application system (CVMail).
- Providing holiday cover and overflow support to all other members of the HR Operations team
- Regular review and input into maintenance and updating of HR Operational processes and checklists.
- Responsibility for helping to maintain and update template documents and document management system.
- Participation in wider HR team projects, as required.

Person Specification:

Education/Experience/Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year administration experience preferred.
- Previous professional services experience would be an advantage in this role.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent or currently studying at degree level

Technical/Work-based Skills/Knowledge:
- Excellent IT skills including Outlook, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Willingness and aptitude to use software packages that are unfamiliar.

General Skills/Attributes:

- Excellent attention to detail.
- Able to organise self and activities effectively to meet work demands and achieve objectives.
