Research and Development Scientist

Our client is a leading manufacturer of monitoring and imaging system for tissue blood flow and oxygenation assessments in a wide range of pre-clinical research and clinical applications. An opportunity has now arisen for an experienced and highly-motivated Research and Development Scientist to join their R&D team.

Location: Axminster, East Devon

Salary: £32,000 - £40,000 (Plus pension contribution and profit related bonus)

Contract Type: Permanent (3 months probation period)

Contract Hours: Full Time

Closing Date: 30th Aug 2018

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
The work involves the research and development of innovative products and new applications. The successful candidate is expected to play a key role in the project and show initiative in design, problem solving, product evaluation and application development. This will be a hands-on role requiring both a strong understanding of the physics underpinning the technology and the practical ability to build and test prototype.

The roles require a significant amount of research and interaction across teams internally as well as with external clinical/academic partners. The successful candidate should have

  • Great enthusiasm to research, develop and explore scientific methodologies and ideas in response to research and device developmental challenges;
  • Good written and verbal communications skills;
  • A good team player as well as an individual contributor, and show great technical flair and potential.

Qualifications:

Masters/PhD Degree in Biomedical Engineering / Relevant Engineering Field / Physics.
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the UK.

Experience/Skills:

  • Previous working experience of instrumentation design and development;
  • Practical experience of signal processing and modelling;
  • Practical experience in the physiological or clinical research fields;
  • Software experience of C/C++ programming or programming using MATLAB would be advantageous.
