This company was formed in 2000 in order to create complete solutions for many major industries. These solutions range from apps to entire companies, each with their own identity that continue to solve real problems.
Due to continued success, an exciting opportunity has arisen for additional Operational Engineers to join their software team, further developing their careers.
Successful candidates should enjoy working in a well-managed team environment; have the enthusiasm and ambition to complete projects to the highest standard and want to be part of an organisation that has high quality values.
Requirements
The successful candidate will help support and maintain the core Linux system environments.
Although there is nothing particularly special about these, there is a significant road-map already in place, and the ability to execute this without interruption of core services (globally) is a key challenge to this role. Good understanding of Linux is a must, as is the ability to work on your own, planning and keeping people informed and keeping (roughly) to schedule
Technical Environment
Linux

Experience Required
- Good base of Linux knowledge, package installation / knowing where to find logs etc. is a must
- Minimum of 2 years+ experience as a system administrator / Linux engineer / technical support.
- Basic understanding of networking, subnets/firewalls etc.
- Good understanding of IT general operational procedures
Junior candidates perhaps from a technical support background looking for the next step/challenge in their career and who can demonstrate a good understanding of the core principles and some exposure to their technology stack, will also be considered.
Full ongoing training and support will be given to the successful candidate.
Advantageous
- Exposure to AWS
- Web Servers/Apache/Nginx/Databases
- Firewall maintenance/system monitoring
- Tools like Ansible/Terraform/Jenkins/Teamcity etc.
- IT Operational procedures
- Bash or similar shell scripting/Python
Salary
Circa £25 - 30k dependant on experience
