Research Contracts Co-ordinator

Starting Salary £22,201 - £25,976 per annum

Band Salary £22,201 - £29,837 per annum

MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK

United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) was created by UK Government to be a non-departmental public body of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and has brought together the seven Research Councils, including the Medical Research Council (MRC), Innovate UK and the research and knowledge exchange functions previously performed by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) into one organisation that will facilitate greater strategic coordination of research and innovation activity in the UK.

On 1 April 2018, all property, rights, and liabilities of the Council transferred to UKRI.

This transfer was achieved using a statutory transfer scheme process.  The transfer scheme process is a process designed to assist the smooth and uninterrupted transfer of functions from the Council to UKRI.

We are now recruiting a Contracts Coordinator to join the Research Office to complete two vital projects – notification of MRC’s partners of its transfer to UKRI, novation of contracts from MRC to UKRI as applicable, and archiving files to achieve GDPR compliance.

This position is offered on a fixed term basis for 6 months.

You will have a degree level qualification in law or business administration, or equivalent experience in research contracts preparation and administration in an academic or Research and Development environment. Experience of contract drafting and management is essential along with experience of having worked within a busy office in a research or academic environment. You will have excellent communication skills, be well-organised with the ability to multi-task and have strong office experience in a customer-focused environment.

The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology is a research institute within UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). UKRI is a new entity that brings together nine partners to create an independent organisation with a strong voice for research and innovation.

Working for UKRI MRC provides a whole host of benefits including a defined benefit pension scheme, excellent holiday entitlement (40 ½ days including bank holidays & privilege days) and Benenden Healthcare membership.  You will also have access to employee shopping/travel discounts, on site sport and social facilities, as well as salary sacrifice cycle to work schemes and childcare vouchers.

Closing date: 20 August 2018

Final appointments will be subject to a pre-employment screening.

The Medical Research Council is an Equal Opportunities Employer who participates in the Disability Confident scheme.
