Our manufacturing client in Dover is looking to appoint a Purchasing Supply Chain Coordinator on a permanent basis.

The buyer is tasked with purchasing materials and services required to meet the production plan set to meet customer and project requirements.

In addition, this person will be responsible for scheduling materials in line with production plan and accountable for vendor's performance and adherence to schedule. They are expected wherever possible to beat planned project costs and quotes and continuously find and then lead cost down or cost saving opportunities whilst championing a low inventory ethos.

The buyer will act in partnership with the customer planner and is accountable for customer satisfaction and project execution through material availability and vendor management.

Main responsibilities

??Conversion of estimated to actual demand and feedback of any issues or discrepancies found in this process

??Creation of POs in business system, and communication of those POs to suppliers

??Calculation of due date requirements with planners to ensure material flow matched to production plan and logistics capacity

??Negotiation and confirmation of delivery due dates for items and batches, and monitoring of on time, in full performance from suppliers Negotiation and speedy conclusion of quality incidents, where suppliers are involved. Objective to be lowest cost, fastest solution.

??Develop and provide data on cost, service and quality to inform supplier choice by development teams

??Calculation of lead times for regular or standard items, for inclusion in project planning tools

??Daily calls to all major and significant current suppliers to progress all outstanding POs so that current supply info, and issues, are known and resolved at earliest possible time.

??Maintenance of all dates, and escalation of all supply issues to planners for resolution or re-planning

??Support for development team in finding, evaluating and recommending suppliers for new products and services, proactively, and in response to specific enquiries

??Communication of supply dates to planning document so that availability of material "kits" is visible to all.

??Negotiation/team working with logistics to ensure that delivery and storage capacity is available to meet inbound supply

??Daily contact with QA to resolve any outstanding quality issues.

??Participation in supplier improvement programmes including quality audits, resolving quality issues, capacity restraint identification, lead time and cost reduction programmes and supply base rationalisation

??Lead , execute and deliver cost saving initiatives on raw materials and adhoc / consumable spend

??Management of inventory levels to deliver maximum material availability with minimum stock
