About this Role:

As Design Manager you will be working for a Regional Contractor on projects within the education, healthcare, hotels and leisure, residential, commercial, industrial, retail and community sectors with project values between GBP1M - GBP15M on a design and build basis.

Working on projects across Hampshire, Dorset, Surrey and Wiltshire you will report to the Construction Director to achieve continued success for this established company.

The ideal candidate will have experience from pre-construction phase through to managing the flow of information and technical problems solving of delivery of the projects with your project team both from site and in supplier and client side project manager progress / design meetings as required.

You will be responsible for:

Supporting the process of assessing, preparing (including post-tender activities), validating, adjudication and final submission of tenders on time and to the required quality.

Managing the process of designing solution(s), in order to meet or exceed customers' requirements

Supporting negotiations with the customer for the design solution retained at the end of the bidding process

Supporting the commercial relationships with customers, consultants, contractors and subcontractors during the tender and fulfilment processes

Supporting the handover of the project plan(s) (PEP) to the fulfilment team (procurement, contract management, commercial management and project management)

Identifying contractual, financial, technical and operational risks within tenders and to identify opportunities to minimise risk and maximise gross profit

Supporting the project teams to fulfil contracts safely, on time, and to the required quality while minimising costs

Ensuring the solution design is in line with the project budget and plan and the 'integrated design programme'

Lead, manage and motivate design management staff and external consultants on projects to establish their full commercial contribution to the organisation

About the Company/Client/Project:

A regional contractor with over 40 years' experience in the construction industry working within the education, healthcare, hotels and leisure, residential, commercial, industrial, retail and community sectors.

The business is growing and has a vision to grow the turnover and profits by consistently delivering at a high level and providing the best value for their clients.

You will be working on a GBP19M care village in the Dorset area.

You will be working with the Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor on this project from inception to completion out of the Dorchester office.

This project is due to start in October 2018

Requirements including certificates and qualifications:

You will have experience of working within the Construction industry for main contractors, specifically on D&B new build and refurbishment projects, more specifically within the Education, Leisure and Commercial sectors.

Candidates must:

hold a construction / design related professional qualification - HNC/HND/Degree

be a member of a Professional Body CIOB/RIBA/RICS

hold a relevant CSCS card

have main contractor experience on commercial projects form pre-con to delivery on site / handover
