Role summary

The Head of Sales will be responsible for meeting the overall sales target for the Central Government Client Group, which includes large central government departments, transport infrastructure organisations, and key local government clients.

This is a key role and works alongside the other leaders within the Central Government team (Heads of Pre-Sales, Delivery, Engineering, Consulting, Operations and the P&L owners) to deliver profitable growth in a way that delights our clients and meets our high standards of business conduct.

What you'll be doing

  • The role will focus on new business development, on expanding our presence in growth accounts, and on co-ordinating sales activity across established accounts, while also owning certain key accounts and relationships.
  • Working within a matrix environment to shape our strategy.
  • Manage and co-ordinate sales professionals, account managers and client engagement leads to meet a sales target.
  • Oversee and co-ordinate sales campaigns and major bids; setting a vision and co-ordinating marketing activity to raise our profile with key clients.

What we're looking for

  • An individual with the ability to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues to set a vision and direction for client engagement.
  • Knowledge and expertise to utilise the entire suite of company solutions within our data, digital and cyber offerings.
  • An individual who will promote customer intimacy by supporting an inclusive culture that is open to change, innovation and growth and will also work with colleagues across Applied Intelligence to combine and leverage best practice, industry trends and experience to achieve the best outcome for the customer.
  • Experience of working within the UK government and / or transport infrastructure sectors.
  • Track record of winning small and large opportunities across the whole lifecycle of initial consulting engagement through to system integration, software development and service management contracts.
  • Demonstrable experience of shaping strategic bids end-to-end; from win theme planning through to shaping solutions to enable pricing to win, shaping the delivery team as well as having very high levels of written and verbal communication skills to write and present winning bids.
  • As part of the wider Government Business Unit, the Head of Sales will represent the Central Government Client Group sales team and work with peers to share and implement best practice for business development, sales and account management.
