Screen Printing Machine Operative

Horizon Search & Selection are currently seeking an experienced Screen Printer / Machine Operative to join our client, a uniquely interesting firm, our client are a market leader in the manufacture of high-end arts-based giftware's and have an impressive and ever-growing client base which includes national supermarket and high street chains.

With a total of thirty staff and having invested a quarter of a million pounds on new machinery for manufacture, it is an important time for our client and they are keen to recruit an individual who will really take ownership of the printing and dispatch department. Especially as this is a lone-working role so needs somebody very organised who is able to work alone in an often fast-paced environment!

We are seeking a suitably experienced Screen Printer / Machine Operative to operate large industrial print presses; focused on the quality and efficiency of high-volume, quick-turn around printing onto a number of different fabrics for various end uses. This is not a creative role and is far more focused on production; so please bear this in mind when applying.

The role will involve:

* Operating M&R Automatic Screen Print Presses effectively

* Loading and unloading of garments onto the presses; ensuring no rips, tears or non-intentional marks are left

* Quality control of finished items. Products are sold to large retail customers, and it is crucial that print quality is checked and no faulty or sub-standard items are released to the customers

* Registering screens for print, ensuring no errors before beginning print runs

* Ink mixing to pantone colours

* Stock handling and sorting

* Cleaning the area and ensuring it is kept tidy and there are no hazards

* Operating a folding and packing line

We require the following skills and experiences:

* Good level of experience working within a busy commercial print production environment; ideally with screen printing machines (textile printing is highly advantageous)

* Keen eye for quality control and detail

* Good work ethic, an appreciation of fast-turn around production without compromising quality. Ability to work to deadlines and with a sense of urgency

* Ability to use own initiative and work well without close supervision
