SEO Content Writer- Plymouth

We're seeking a motivated and talented digital journalist to join our team in Plymouth, creating search optimised advance content for our three websites.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our new regional newsdesk for Devon Live, Cornwall Live and Plymouth Live in a new role that forms a key part of our audience growth strategy.

You'll be a confident writer who can own search by writing, publishing and republishing attention-grabbing copy that nails the key search terms at the right time. You will manage the delivery of advance and evergreen content to support audience targets.

Your focus will be on creating advanced content and evergreen pieces around key events and key search terms for locals and visitors across Devon and Cornwall. As the 'last pair of eyes' on uploaded content, you will ensure it is legally sound, accurate and compliant with industry and brand requirements.

Where you will be based

You will be working in our Plymouth office and may occasionally be asked to visit our offices in Truro and Exeter.

Key Responsibilities

    Deliver high-quality, accurate and well-written multimedia SEO evergreen contentDeliver content in a way which engages and drives digital audienceUse search and social media analytics to identify digital audience and content trendsPublish and republish content to the highest standardsManage live daily content flow in line with digital audience spikes to achieve digital audience targets Own the delivery of audience goals to achieve individual goals, and overall newsroom targetsProvide live coverage for live blogs when requiredShoot video, audio and take pictures when requiredBe adept on social media to build audiences and communities and ensure that content is shared on social platformsPossess a thorough, up-to-date knowledge of media law and industry guidelinesManage or undertake company/editorial projects and any other duties from time to time as reasonably requested by managementMaintain the highest personal standards of professionalism and integrity at all times within the framework of current legislation and Trinity Mirror's editorial and company policies, and ensuring these standards are upheld across the newsroom

The Ideal Candidate

You'll be a confident writer with proven digital skills and possess an excellent understanding of all the storytelling requirements of a digital newsroom. Along with this, you'll have the ability to use and apply learning through digital analytics whilst working well under pressure. Ideally, you will have experience of writing for search and creating SEO headlines and be able to create innovative ideas for engaging and shareable content. You'll be motivated by the challenge of producing stories ready for digital audience spikes and have experience shooting and editing video.

Please note: Be available to work a 7-day shift pattern as required
