Gloucester City Homes is an independent housing association providing excellent housing management services to over 5,200 tenants and 260 leaseholders in Gloucester. Our Independent Living Service is responsible for the efficient management of our Sheltered Accommodation function, covering facilities, health and safety and the wellbeing of our older and disabled residents.

We are looking for an Independent Living Officer to work within our Independent Living Service who will be responsible for the delivery of an effective housing management service. You will be responsible for creating a safe environment for our tenants that promotes inclusion through providing access to housing and benefits related advice and opportunities for community participation. You will assist our residents to maintain their tenancies, making referrals to appropriate support teams internally and through external agencies as required. You will also manage the facilities of the sheltered housing scheme, regularly carrying out Health and Safety checks to ensure a safe, well maintained community is provided. You will be working in a diverse sheltered housing scheme with a responsibility to provide cover for other Independent Living Officers as required.

    

The successful candidate will have experience in similar role within a sheltered housing setting and as such will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of adult safeguarding and health and safety issues along with knowledge of housing legislation around tenancy and income recovery. A confident communicator, you will have the ability to give accurate and up to date advice, information and support on a broad range of topics including Housing and ASB legislation, welfare benefit legislation and advice.

You must have excellent communication and  interpersonal skills along with a strong customer focus and an ability to understand the needs and perceptions of clients and handle difficult situations sensitively. You will also need to have demonstrate strong IT skills with experience of data collection.

Due to the nature of the role a clean UK driving licence is required with access to a car.
