Young Volunteers Co-ordinator (Three Year Fixed Term Contract)
Dartington, Totnes, Devon
£20,572 – £22,230 per annum (pro-rata)
Part-time, 22.5 hours per week
Are you comfortable following young people’s lead and building on their experience and interest?
Do you want to join a pioneering charity that makes a real difference to the lives of young people and adults with learning disabilities? If so, we’d love to hear from you!
We are looking for a Young Volunteers Co-ordinator to launch and develop an exciting new project. Funded by Children in Need, the Extraordinary Young People Programme will be designed and developed in partnership with learning disabled young people, joining the process through their participation in Lifeworks Young Volunteers programme, which has served as a pilot.
Initially you will be working over three days, however there is potential for this to be increased to full time in the first year if additional funding is secured.
To join us as the Young Volunteers Co-ordinator, you’ll need to:
- Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Health or Social Care, Youth Work or Supporting Individuals with Learning Disabilities (or recognised equivalent) or a Teaching & Training qualification
- Be confident in your knowledge of the needs of learning disabled children, young people and young adults; of best practices including person-centered planning, active support and advocacy
- Be highly organised and self-motivated, able to prioritise work, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressure
- Be capable of leading the development of a new programme; building partnerships in the context of delivery and commissioning and project systems to maximise outcomes for participating young people
We are a well-established charity that provides an excellent range of staff benefits including 28 days’ annual leave, a company pension scheme, childcare vouchers, staff discount scheme, ongoing training and supervision, continuing professional development and support as well as an extensive induction on commencement of employment. Lifeworks are also accredited Disability Confident Employers.
Lifeworks is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and young adults and they expect all staff to share this commitment. For this post, pre-employment checks will be carried out, references will be sought and successful candidates will need to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
This is a fantastic opportunity to develop an engaging career with a forward-thinking charity.
