Our client now has an opportunity for a Purchasing Specialist. Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will develop and execute local purchasing strategies in line with Global purchasing policies. This will include sourcing, tendering and assessing new products/vendors as well as conducting negotiations with prospective and existing suppliers with the intention of reducing costs, mitigating purchasing risks and optimising both stock levels and the scheduling of goods and services.

You will need to have a good understanding of raw material supply considerations and be capable of deputising for the Purchasing Manager. You will have a good knowledge of engineering parts and service requirements, ensuring that the technical specifications of products/services to be procured are clearly defined in liaison with other functions.  All of the above will need to be carried out in compliance with both SHE and ISO requirements.

You will be of graduate calibre, have gained experience within an industrial manufacturing environment and ideally be CIPS qualified. You will have a professional demeanour, be a structured and an analytical thinker and possess excellent interpersonal, organisational and negotiating skills. You will need to be highly numerate and IT literate in MS Office (Excel, Word & PowerPoint) and experience of SAP would be an advantage.
