Senior Officer - Structural, Civils and Marine

SCP 24 - 26 (£25,259 - £27,319)

Reporting to the Asset Management Principal Officer, Structural, Civils and Marine, the post-holder will be a member of a proactive team responsible for delivering all aspects of estates maintenance, marine engineering and civils function for existing and future assets.

As an integral member of this team the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Capital and revenue works, and will also produce technical reports, scope of works and specifications as and when required, ensuring all functions are delivered on time, within budget and conform to any Client and organisational objectives.

Experience, Qualification, Skills & Competencies

Essential

  • Experience of structural, civil, and marine engineering and estate maintenance in a multi-disciplinary environment while ensuring the safe, reliable operation and utilisation of the estate.
  • A background in working within the Structural engineering industry
  • A relevant degree or equivalent experience of working in a similar role for 3 years.
  • Working knowledge of industry contracts, their relevance and suitability.
  • Being commercially aware, must possess the ability to negotiate and deliver commercial contracts and manage external suppliers delivery and performance to meet their financial, quality and programme management commitments.
  • Assist with production of annual service review data and input into Asset Management Service Plan with recommendations for service delivery improvement.
  • A knowledge of the requirements of the Marine Management Organisation (MMO).
  • Develop effective networking relationships to facilitate integrated working across the organisation.
  • Fully conversant with all DDA, Health and Safety, Planning, Building Codes and Environmental legislation including Codes of Practice.
  • Ability to take initiative to respond to emergency issues as they arise, determination to deliver and to work to deadlines.
  • Computer literate with a high degree of ICT skills and the ability to configure modify and use a variety of PC based tools to maintain Merseytravel equipment.
  • Organisation skills to liaise with client departments, internal labour staff and contractors to carry out works including effective use of team resources.
  • Flexible approach to work, enthusiastic team player.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to Merseytravel Environmental Policy and Procedures.

Desirable

  • Professional Engineer with membership of a relevant Institutional body and a commitment to learning and continual professional development.
  • Knowledge of Merseytravel commercial, financial and budgetary controls, standing orders, financial and statutory regulations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the computer based asset management system for managing the maintenance of Merseytravel Assets (Mainsaver and X-RM).
  • Full Clean Driving Licence.
  • Previous experience of working in a multi-disciplinary work environment.
