Recovery Navigator - East & Mid Devon

The below role will be based in our Devon community service Together Drug & Alcohol is provided by a partnership of EDP Drug & Alcohol Services, Devon Doctors and Devon Partnership NHS Trust, supported by the Devon Together Alliance. Based: East and Mid Devon
Hours: Part time 24 hours per week
Salary: £18,500 to £23,000 per annum depending on experience (pro-rata for part time)
Contract: Fixed Term 7 Months

Day to day duties will involve you delivering a range of interventions, Assessing of risk and treatment need, Brief intervention, and giving of advice and information to service users, concerned others and professionals, in order to provide the safest person centred treatment experience.

As a Recovery Navigator, you will be responsible for working with and motivating Together Service Users to engage in the recovery programmes we offer in Devon as well as become involved in the communities they live in so that they connect with others and feel purposeful in everyday living. 

Ideally, you will already have previous experience of working in a similar field, either in the community or a similar environment, including undertaking assessments and delivering a range of evidence based substance misuse psychosocial interventions in 1:1 and group-work settings. You will have a good understanding of risk assessment, psychosocial interventions and harm reduction. You will be comfortable dealing with the emotional content of interactions and constructively challenging the behaviours you see. Some knowledge and understanding of mental health issues would be helpful.

In addition, you will be able to demonstrate excellent communication, organisation and time management skills and be confident in managing your own priorities in order to carry a diverse workload with competing demands. You will have at least five GCSE’s (or equivalent) and either hold or be willing to undertake a Vocational Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or a further qualification in a relevant area.

Just as importantly, you will have a genuine interest in the understanding of substance misuse problems and a positive recovery focused attitude.  You will be keen to develop professionally through our training programme and will demonstrate a high level of integrity and enthusiasm for working within the un-structured direct access ‘front door’ of our service as well as the structured group programmes that we run on a continuous cycle.
