What will I be doing?  
   

As a PCR Design Specialist, you’ll use algorithms and bespoke software programs to support PCR assay design, as well as carrying out in silico validations of assays.  
   
In this key role, you’ll analyse experimental data to improve and maintain our client’s design processes. Specifically, you will:  
   
- Oversee a team of design specialists to support the assay development process  
- Assess designs and develop/maintain processes and algorithms to improve the assay design pipeline (for the purposes of generating of IP)  
- Execute bioinformatics pipelines for internal and external collaborators  
- Collect sequence data and mine public databases for sequence content  
- Support the execution of development studies  
- Complete research-related documentation in-line with the ISO 13485 quality management system  
   
What do I need?  
   
- At least two years' experience in a laboratory role with a strong assay design component 
- Previous PCR knowledge and hands-on experience  
- Expertise in mining public databases for genomic sequences  
- Expertise in sequence analysis tools for mapping and comparative genomics  
- An understanding of the biology behind genotyping, gene expression profiling, comparative genomics and genetic mapping  
- Proficiency in bioinformatics analysis tools, including: multiple sequence alignment, BLAST analysis, open reading frame analysis; secondary, tertiary and quaternary protein structure prediction and phylogenetics   
- A Masters, ideally a PhD, in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics or a related field
