This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our progressive Global Technology and Manufacturing client at their facility in Plymouth, UK.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Engineer is expected to provide Maintenance, Process Improvement and Installation & Commissioning support primarily to Production but also to Facilities, Manufacturing Engineering and other departments on site. The role is suited to electrical/electro-mechanical engineers, ideally with good PLC/control system knowledge. The primary KPI is to reduce plant breakdowns through the proactive implementation of PPM and plant improvement activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Support the Production team in resolving breakdowns:

* Via feedback from the Maintenance Manager, resolve breakdowns and follow action plans to improve the MTBF and MTTR KPI's.

* Manage a series of process and machinery improvement projects:

* Accept and identify process and machinery improvement projects that will improve the H&S, output, efficiency or reliability of plant and equipment.

* Assist in installation and commissioning work:

* Participate in the installation and commissioning of new lines, services and equipment.

* Proactively identify training/skills development opportunities that will further competence and knowledge in the manufacturing processes:

* Participate in year end and mid-year reviews and work to agreed development plan.

* Support the Man. Eng team in the installation and commissioning of new production lines, machines and equipment:

* Take responsibility as defined within projects for the installation and commissioning of equipment as required.

* Proactively maintain machinery through the completion of planned preventative maintenance tasks:

* Improve the machinery breakdown KPI's through the active completion and review of PPM.

* Work to the company H&S procedures and proactively identify areas where H&S can be improved:

* Ensure that the Manufacturing processes are conducted according to H&S standards and that adequate safe working procedures are in place. Promote '5S' within the production area.

* Provide regular feedback to the Man. Eng. Team on maintenance issues that cannot be resolved within the team and may impact on future NPI design:

* Recommend improvement projects to the Man Eng. Team.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

* Minimum of 4-5 years' experience in an engineering/maintenance based role within a multi-functional manufacturing facility, with a bias on electrical maintenance.

* NVQ Level 5/City & Guilds/HND or higher equivalent electrical/electro-mechanical qualification.

* General understanding of mechanical control principles.

* IT literacy - MS Word, Excel, Power-point.
