Purpose of the Role
You will be the face of Community Transport by providing a caring,
supportive and safe transport service for people who experience
mobility or other health issues. You will drive Community Transport
minibuses legally, safely and responsibly; taking either groups of
passengers or individuals on a demand responsive basis, to and from
different destinations.

You will be required to work across all of our passenger services
projects including transporting the elderly, community groups,
vulnerable adults and children with special needs or disabilities to
cover periods of holiday, sickness and high demand. If you would like

Key responsibilities, tasks, authority and accountabilities
The following criteria is not listed in any particular order of
importance, as all areas identified require the individual to
undertake the defined responsibilities and tasks with equal diligence
and meet the desired and appropriate performance level.

Principal accountabilities:

1. You will operate all auxiliary equipment fitted to vehicles such
as lifts, ramps, steps, radios, wheel chair harnesses and
restraints and cab heaters, the removal and replacement of seating
where necessary etc in a safe and proper manner.

2. You will ensure passengers are embarked, carried and disembarked
safely. That appropriate seat belts and when required child seats
are used at all times the vehicle is in motion and that any
wheelchairs, frames, oxygen cylinders, luggage and goods are
properly and safely restrained.

3. You will provide excellent customer service and the highest
standard of care and consideration in transporting our passengers
in a safe and responsible manner.

4. You will provide cover for passenger assistants as required

5. You will be responsible for meeting the legal requirements of
Road Traffic Regulations, the use of tachographs (where relevant)
and all other aspects of Road Transport legislation.

6. You will ensure that vehicles are cleaned on a regular basis
(inside and out), kept free of debris with clamps and straps
stowed away when not in use.

7. You will ensure all Community Transport's requirements for
drivers in relation to vehicle maintenance, safety, fare
collection and data recording are met.

8. You will attend training courses as appropriate for the
improvement of the service, including assessment and training to
MiDAS standards.

Person Specification

Essential skills / training;

1. Current driving licence with D1 (101) entitlement, as shown on
the back of your driving licence (max. 3 points

2. Experience of driving minibuses and/or larger vehicles

3. Resilient and able to perform in a pressurised environment whilst
acting as a influential team player

4. Ability to respect client confidentiality

5. Motivated to work towards creating a safe, open and trusting
environment

6. Awareness of Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection Issues and the
boundaries of professional relationships

7. Being prepared to work flexibly to meet the needs of the business
including unsocial hours, such as weekends, mornings and evenings

8. Satisfactory DBS enhanced disclosure check

Desirable skills / training;

1. Education to NVQ Level 2 or equivalent (or a willingness to work
towards)

2. Experience of working in the voluntary sector

3. Experience of cash handling

4. Experience of working on a demand responsive transport service or
commercial bus service
