Senior Games Designer
My client is one of the industry's leading games studios with some
fantastic awards and titles under their belt. They are currently
expanding their Design Team and looking for an experienced Senior Games
Designer.
What will you be doing?
Defining the content - visually, verbally and / or in written form.
Producing / assisting in the production of the content to make sure it is
to the highest quality and standards
Be a proactive with fellow team members, Creative Director and Production
team to ensure design-related goals are met.
Work alongside Audio Engineer in the design of any audible aspects of a
project
Work alongside the Usability Analyst and implementing feedback
Represent design interests in multi-team discussions / meetings and also
encouraging a collaborative work ethic
Reviewing the work of the design team and providing feedback to keep to
the highest quality and standards
Identifying and reporting risks, progress and problems to the Design lead
/ Producer
Understanding the role of pacing, narrative, theme and mechanics in
creating compelling gameplay experiences
Using the feedback from players and design direction to hone the gameplay
experience
Working at the pre-production stage, set goals and define the scope of
the project
Leading the overall design of a project, delegating tasks and leading by
example
What you need for this job?
* At least 3 years of experience in a design role within the games
industry
* Keen interest in and knowledge of game studies
* Good working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
* Comfortable working in a 3D package (Maya, Max, Blender OR
equivalent)
* Good experience and knowledge of game mechanics, game systems and
genres.
* Excellent ability to communicate your vision to artists, programmers,
producers, marketing staff and others involved in the development
process in verbally form and on paper.
* Working in game engines such as Unity and Unreal
* Good working knowledge of C#, blueprint, or equivalent
* Ability to lead a team of designers to realise the overall vision of
the game and ensure that the design goals are delivered to the
highest quality and standards
* Experience of designing and integrating puzzles into levels
* Experience of planning in the pre-production phase
* Skills in Information design and UI design
* Experience of giving feedback on quality issues to other team members
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Outstanding attention to detail and a proactive problem solver
* Have a highly organised approach to working in a team and alone
* Systematic and strategic thinking
* Imagination and creativity
* Be enthusiastic and quick to learn to apply new creative techniques
and technology
* Experience of rapid prototyping
