Irrigation Technician (with grain store responsibilities)

NIAB is a leading UK centre for plant science, crop evaluation and agronomy, delivering work from its regional network and headquarters in Cambridge. Our field crop research and impartial information is widely utilised by the agricultural community.

We are seeking a conscientious and enthusiastic person who enjoys a variety of work to join our trials services team at our Headquarters in Cambridge.

You will be delivering the irrigation requirements for our trials teams which will involve all aspects of the specialist irrigation systems from mist irrigation through to irrigation reels with 48m booms. Through harvest you will also be managing our grain intake/outtake operation which will involve booking and loading lorries and completing the relevant paperwork. You will be expected to operate agricultural equipment at certain times of the year and assist other internal company teams with general duties which can be physically demanding.

Experience of Agricultural equipment and workshop skills would be an advantage. The company offers a career progression matrix for those wanting to develop their position within the team.

Starting salary is in the range of GBP9.63 to GBP10.70 per hour (GBP18,532 to GBP20,591 per annum), based on 37 hours working week dependent on skills, experience and qualifications. You will be expected to work overtime which will be paid at 1.5 normal salary.
