Kier Workplace Services provides specialist teams and technology solutions to help plan, manage and improve our clients' workplaces. This provides our clients with access to solutions not readily available in their own organisations. It also enables our clients to focus on their core business, while Kier takes care of the rest.

Our key clients include the Royal Opera House, Royal Shakespeare Company, Legal and General, Kent County Council, Oldham Council, BAE and the London Borough of Southwark. We also work with a number of schools and academies, the Welsh Government and hold a major contract with the NHS in Yorkshire and Humber.

Kier Workplace Services is looking to recruit a Commercial Manager, who will report to the Senior Commercial Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for all commercial & contractual functions within their area of responsibility, assisting to develop and implement overall strategy, growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

* To manage the commercial resources (people and finance) in the operational business unit to maximise the planned margins on projects, services and activities through placement and control of contracts and subcontracts.
* To support the achievement of the operational unit's budgeted revenue and gross profit by maximising gross margin improvements.
* To support the maximising of the operational business unit's cash flow through proactive cash management working with finance business unit partners and operational teams.
* To assess, review and mitigate commercial and contractual risks and implement group policies for risk management.
* To assess, review and maximise commercial opportunities working with operational teams to ensure appropriate governance and policies are adhered to.
* To support Senior Commercial Business Partner on the implementation of the commercial business plan for Workplace Services.
* To authorise placement of contracts and subcontracts and ensure appropriate risk is passed down through the supply chain.
* To implement all Kier Group's policies including those for SHE and risk management.
* To promote Kier Group's values towards its customers in order to meet or exceed their expectations, and fulfil the vision of becoming the most highly respected company in the industry.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

* Holds the relevant qualifications (i.e. Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management, ideally RICS qualified)
* Demonstrable experience of dealing with multiple clients, forms of contract and methods of measurement
* Be able to anticipate problems and ensure early intervention
* Show experience in managing PFI contracts and in particular the application of PFI payment mechanisms, negotiation and dispute management and value testing PFI projects
* Possess strong commercial negotiation skills and experience of managing and leading a team to achieve multiple objectives
* Effective teamwork and leadership skills
* Excellent Influencing and Negotiation skills
* Business and Strategic awareness
* Proven record of achieving results
