About Us

Founded in 1604, Blundell's is a co-educational independent school for pupils aged 11 - 18. Boasting excellent facilities and the best in pastoral care, we are committed to providing an outstanding learning experience for all students.

We are now looking for a Director of Development to join our Senior Management Team and drive the ongoing development and growth of our organisation.

The Role

As the Director of Development, you will secure financial support for the School's development from a range of external sources.

In this important role, you will:

- Develop a fundraising strategy
- Create plans for existing fundraising initiatives, including major donor development, legacies, supporter fundraising and annual giving funds
- Oversee the effective research, stewardship and cultivation of prospects and supporters
- Engage with existing and prospective supporters, both in the UK and internationally
- Chair and manage the Friends of Blundell's Social Committee
- Support the maintenance of the alumni networking programme

About You

To join us as our Director of Development, you will need:

- A strong track record of success in strategic development and fundraising
- First-hand experience of implementing a major capital campaign, ideally in a comparable environment, such as charity
- Strategic planning experience and the drive to lead, motivate and guide others
- A degree or equivalent

Other organisations may call this role Fundraising Director, Development Director, Head of Strategic Development, Head of Fundraising, Senior Fundraising Manager or Senior Business Development Manager.

Standard office hours in term time are 8:30 - 17:30, Monday - Friday, and these are more flexible during the school holidays. As this is a senior post, you will occasionally be required to work outside of standard office hours.
