NHS Digital has a pivotal role to play in realising the ambitions of the Personalised Health and Care 2020 Portfolio, which has a value of GBP4.2bn over five years. We have a mandate to deliver a very broad and complex set of new technical applications, platforms, services and capabilities over the coming years to support the transformation of health and care. Delivery of this ambitious, transformational agenda depends on our ability to build completely new capabilities (in areas such as data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning and data platforms) and significantly upgrade existing capabilities (not least application development, commercial management and governance). Whilst building these new capabilities and delivering new services and products, it is imperative that our existing services, particularly those that are classed as Critical National Infrastructure, are maintained at the highest level of stability and performance. This will require highly competent and confident leadership across a range of portfolios. About the opportunity The Executive Director of Product Development and Implementation will lead our Product/Application Development programs and Product Management activities across all functional areas which develop and deploy new products for various parts of the NHS, primarily as part of the PHC2020 portfolio. You will also manage the design, delivery and operation of the NHS Digital Informatics Innovations Hub for the health and care system - a centre for sharing and promoting innovative practice across the health and care system., It is anticipated that interviews will be held w/c 30th July or w/c 6th August in London or Leeds Roles at NHS Digital are subject to a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service following an acceptance of an offer of employment. Basic checks provide details of convictions and conditional cautions that are considered to be unspent under the terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. You will also have a strong computer science background and broad knowledge of common application development technologies together with a proven ability to identify and capitalise on opportunities to commercialise products and solutions. Your strong leadership and credibility within the Informatics and Technology community will be founded upon proven leadership of innovation in information and technology across the health and care system or a similarly complex system.
