Purpose of the role:Technical Leader for Global Packaging Organization, representing the function internally and externally as an Industry Expert. Sets business and technical direction as related to own functional area; develops and communicates vision to achieve organization alignment and action at the most senior management levels, Influences external activities & resources, trade / professional organizations / regulatory agencies.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Forms/ leads internal and external multidisciplinary project teams to solve complex technical problems or to explore development or exploitation of technology to meet business objectives.
  • Impacts business performance across multiple product categories and geographies
  • Sponsors and champions external and internal basic research and fundamental knowledge building to influence future business development strategies.
  • Could be an invited symposium speaker; could serve as expert on national committees and could have editorial responsibilities (book or chapter editing, journals, editorial review boards).
  • Continuously furthers self development.
  • Exhibits mastery of current technologies and has broad knowledge of emerging technologies; is skilled in applying / matching appropriate technology with business needs.
  • Demonstrates an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness in the application and development of highly advanced technologies.
  • Represents the Packaging function on the Technical Career Council.
  • Recognised externally as technology expert/ leader and as spokesperson.

Qualifications

Candidate Profile:

  • Extensive experience in FMCG (preferred) manufacturing experience, most of it working on innovation, new products, at all phases of development, with a track record of bringing concepts to market with results.

  • Global leadership experience, including successful track record leading multi-country and multi-cultural large projects.

  • Fearless in driving change, focusing on big ideas, pushing for excellence, challenging the status quo, and inspiring a virtual community across the globe.

  • Relentless focus on the consumers, shoppers, customers, competitors.

  • Strong ability to influence without authority, and navigate through a vast matrix of cross-functional senior stakeholders and peers with political savvy.

  • Is a strong best practice advocate who effectively leads communities and advances knowledge.

  • Conducts him/her self with integrity and uses judgement in decision making.

  • Skillful in developing and leveraging relationships.

Academic:

  • A degree in Packaging, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or similar discipline is required.

  • Must have credentials that are externally validated (for ex., relevant papers published, scientific/advisory committee memberships, consulted by industry and academic peers, patents and citations).
