Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity. We now help around 190,000 cats and kittens through our network of over 250 volunteer-run branches and 34 adoption centres and homing centres.
As the Learning and Development Partner, you will support the Learning and Development Programme and People Strategy for Cats Protection through the provision of learning and development to enable and engage staff and volunteers to deliver their best for the future of cats. The role will provide general support and guidance on all aspects of learning to stakeholders across the charity, leading on specific projects to support the People Strategy and working with the Head of Learning and Development and Learning and Development Specialist to develop a strong culture of learning.
Key Responsibilities:
- With direction from the Learning and Development Specialist, design, plan, deliver and review people development programmes in partnership with stakeholders across all areas of the charity
- With direction from the Learning and Development Specialist, identify and work with external learning providers to deliver key learning programmes, ensuring excellent provision, value for money and alignment to the charity’s values and strategic aims
- Work with staff and volunteer teams across Cats Protection to provide expert advice, support and guidance in developing individuals and teams, providing coaching and facilitation of learning support in line with charity and Directorate strategies. Provide specific support to deliver Cats Protection’s Operations Directorate in the delivery of their goals and vision
- Take the lead on learning and development projects to support the People Strategy, and support the Head of Learning and Development and Learning and Development Specialist to deliver key elements of the People Strategy
- Support the Leadership and Management development programmes in Cats Protection through delivery, facilitation and advice and guidance to staff and volunteer managers on learning and development, working closely with the Human Resources and Volunteering Development teams
- Support the Head of Learning and Development and Learning and Development Specialist to plan, develop, deliver and evaluate the Cats Protection Learning and Development Programme
- Take the L&D team lead in the development and delivery of the Cats Protection Apprenticeship Strategy
- Support the Learning and Development Specialist in the development of a volunteer learning and development resource, including leading and managing a volunteer team in the future
- Work with other members of the Learning and Development team to deliver appropriate learning interventions for the charity, including development of flexible learning, facilitation of action learning and provision of coaching interventions. Support the development of coaching capability
- Work with other members of the Learning and Development team and wider People Team to promote and communicate learning across the charity, helping to ensure as many of our people are aware of what is available and how to take responsibility for their own learning. This will include supporting the development of resources and use of communication tools
Person Specification:
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work on own initiative
- Excellent organisational and project management skills, proven ability to project, plan and meet key milestones and deadlines
- Able to influence key stakeholders with excellent personal impact and influencing skills
- Significant experience of identifying, delivering and reviewing learning and development interventions in a diverse organisation
- Designing and delivering L&D solutions to a diverse workforce, including volunteers
- Sound understanding of adult learning and development in an organisational context
- Good understanding of volunteering and volunteer management
- Constructive approach to solving problems, flexible and adaptable approach
There will be travel within the UK, including some overnight stays with this role.
