Sense is looking for a reliable and motivated person to join our professional team as a Senior Support Worker (Intervenor) in Plymouth. This is a part time role, working 6 hours per week. We are looking for people to join our team of adaptable and motivated individuals with great communication skills to help make a difference to the lives of the people we support.

About the role

An Intervenor provides one-to-one support to a child or adult who has been born with sight and hearing impairments – known as congenital deafblindness. The day-to-day role of an Intervenor varies dependant on the needs of the individual, the nature of the sensory impairment and the ways they wish to communicate.

As an Intervenor (Senior Support Worker) you will be to enable the individual to experience and join in the world around them as much as possible. This will be done by promoting the person’s social and personal development, encouraging their independent skills and facilitating their communication.

This support may be provided in someone’s home, their local community or work setting and personal care may be required.

A full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle is an essential requirement for this role.

About you 

The ideal candidate will have achieved, or be willing to work toward, a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) and also BSL level one or possess native sign language skills. You will have had experience of working with and providing practical support to, people with learning disabilities and / or multisensory impairments.
