Technical Project Manager and Infrastructure Architect (Hybrid Role) - Career Opportunity

Due to a period of significant growth, we have an exciting new vacancy for a Technical Project Manager and Infrastructure Architect (Hybrid Role). This role will be based in our vibrant Manchester office and we require an enthusiastic individual to become an integral member of our IT Department.

Overall purpose

• To manage the design and delivery of new and replacement infrastructure and environments from conception to completion. This will include ensuring that the project is correctly specified, delivered on time, meets business and technical requirements and is within the agreed budget.
• To establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders. This will include technical, operational and managerial, staff in other departments and third parties.
• To communicate and negotiate effectively with incumbent suppliers and potential suppliers to ensure that they offer and deliver solutions that are fit for purpose; meeting the requirements of functionality, cost and timescale.
• To understand the understand the business's technology infrastructure in order to continuously improve it adopting good practice wherever beneficial and practicable.
• To be responsible for the project administration and the production of project documentation, e.g. project plans.
• To track progress against milestones, deadlines and budget. To Report on these items to key stakeholders and to provide dependency information into Change Delivery team for their business projects.
• To anticipate, manage and resolve issues and act as the point of contact for the project
• To use best practice risk management, assessing risks in an informed and considered manner and to plan for the mitigation of these risks.
• To run in-house projects on a day-to-day basis and take responsibility for their delivery using agile and more formal techniques as appropriate.

Expertise

• Track record of designing and delivering IT infrastructure projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment, specifically that required to support multiple business projects.
• Experience of successfully engaging management and groups of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of Programme Management, e.g. Prince2 or similar
• Familiarity with key infrastructure technologies and best practice including LAN, WAN, Citrix, Voice, Windows, Active Directory, Virtualisation and Security.
• Experience of successfully managing the delivery of multiple projects.
• Experience of managing business change
• Able to demonstrate strong management skills including project management, financial management, change management and facilitation.
• Desirable: experience within financial industry, familiarity with relevant standards and regulations e.g. PCI DSS, FCA, GDPR.

Complexity

• The systems against which the candidate will be expected to design and improve are complex in their level of interconnectivity. Excellent problem determination, analytical and resolution skills are a must.
• Problems will often need to be resolved without advice directly at hand.
• The role will be required to input into technical discussions, helping to shape the enterprise architecture.
• An escalation point for business, technical and third party stakeholders. Ability to make and communicate decisions effectively and in a timely manner.

• Has direct responsibility for the implementation of projects and solutions that have a wide-reaching impact on business users, operational users and customers.
• The role has scope to be involved in both short and long-term pieces of work
